Premium Quality and Economical Food Preservatives: Sodium Metabisulfite
Sodium Metabisulfite Sodium Metabisulfite is a pristine white or pale yellow crystalline powder or small crystal known for its strong SO2 scent. With a specific gravity of 1.4, it dissolves seamlessly in water, resulting in an acidic aqueous solution. Upon encountering a strong acid, it liberates SO2, forming a corresponding salt. Exposure to air leads to its oxidation. The chemical formula is Na2S2O5, and it is advised not to store this product for prolonged periods. When heated beyond 150 degrees Celsius, it decomposes, releasing SO2.
